I spent quite a bit of time researching where we wanted to go in Scotland. Most people recommended south Scotland, but I was more interested in the Highlands region. Very glad that we decided to come to Inverness. I tried to find a guide and really had no luck on the internet. I called our hotel and they immediately said call Andrew with Hames! What a great choice!

We booked a three day tour which included (Among others) the highlights of the entire length of Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Highland Cattle (Hairy Coos), the Ben Nevis Range, the Isle of Skye, valley of Glencoe, Eilean Donan Castle, Talisker Distillery at Carbost, Dunvegan Castle, home of Clan MacLeod, Kilt Rock, Old Man of Storr, the Island Capital Portree, the commemoration stone to the Gaelic prophet, the Brahan Seer, the Clootie Well, Dunrobin Castle AND Glenmorangie Distllery.

Andrew has an astonishing knowledge of the Highlands, great stories and even willing to share his personal view which we appreciated. You will never be bored and during the car rides you will be enchanted with his folk songs and his stories of the local clans. Whatever the price, it is worth it! I promise you will love ever minute!

As an added bonus he personally took us to a catholic church for mass on Sunday. He didn’t pick just any church, but one with age and a rich history. He gives everything the personal touch!

Andrew MacDonald-authentic, knowledgeable, hilarious! Best tour guide–made the trip!
My wife Donna and I spent 5 days with Andrew in early June 2017. We visited many sites starting in Inverness including , Cawdor Castle ( Be Mindful), Urqhart, Loch Ness ( no sighting), Dunvegan Castle ( best gardens and the Fairy Flag), Isle of Skye ( incredible beauty), Iona ( worth the extra time ), Culloden Battlefield ( the history is very moving), Glen Coe (heavy sadness joined with beauty) , Isle of Eriska/ Oban and many tucked away authentic spots.

Andrew is a true pro who also happens to be a professional folk singer. His knowledge and love of Scotland is incredible. He shares it in a unique way by telling stories and singing a folk song or two ( only upon request!). We spent many hours with Andrew in the van. Frankly, those hours were some of the best of the trip.

We highly recommend Andrew. A great tour guide would have been enough–but we made a friend for life!
